General
The FF766 is an IR³ flame detector in a fireproof case. The IR³ models have excellent flame response while providing excellent immunity to foreign sources. The new microprocessor technology makes the detectors independent of the intensity of the flame, allowing them to operate through smoke, a layer of oil, dust or water vapor. A high and low sensitivity setting is provided according to EN54-10

.

Easy to install and maintain.
The units can be wired as conventional 2-wire, 4-20 mA contacts or relays (fire, fault and early alarm) with restraint or non-restraint operation. Remote test inputs are available to activate the self-test.
An adjustable stainless steel bracket and weather protection are also available.
The units are vibration tolerant, and wind does not affect performance. The IR³ unit has excellent tolerance to detector window contamination and is able to detect flame through glass windows.

A flame sensor test unit is available to accurately test the detectors.

Reduction of false alarms
Most IR flame sensors respond to 4.3 µm light emitted by hydrocarbon flames. By responding to the light emitted by each fire from 0.75 to 2.7 µm, it is possible to detect all flickering flames. Gas fires that are not visible to the naked eye, e.g. hydrogen can also be detected.
The IR³ detectors, responding to adjacent IR wavelengths, make it possible to discriminate between flames and spurious sources of IR radiation.

The combination of filters and signal processing allows the sensor to be used without the risk of false alarms in difficult situations characterized by factors such as flickering sunlight.
