Description
The air heater box is designed to increase the temperature of the air drawn from a very cold environment by passing it through a heating element before it passes into the detector. In this way, the problem of condensation on collection pipes outside the protected area is minimized. Heating the air sample also ensures that the detector components operate within specified temperature tolerances and reduces the chance of surface condensation

The AirSense Stratos range of high-sensitivity aspiration smoke detectors is suitable for installation within an area only if the ambient temperature is expected to be higher than 0°C (the minimum operating temperature of a detector is generally -10°C: check the specifications of the particular detector in question). Where the air temperature in the protected area is consistently lower than this temperature, it is imperative that the detector be mounted outside the protected area, in an environment where the temperature meets that specified for the detector. However, the air sampled from the protected area must be conditioned before passing into the detector
