KNX RF / ENO Window Sensor 490 secure: Weinzierl's invisible window sensor
KNX RF / ENO Window Sensor 490 secure: Weinzierl's invisible window sensor
When it comes to security and window automation, aesthetics and reliability are often at odds: classic magnetic contacts work, but they remain clearly visible on windows and French doors. With the KNX RF / ENO Window Sensor 490 secure, Weinzierl offers a solution that resolves this compromise, introducing a compact, completely hidden sensor that far outperforms traditional contacts.

A sensor you can't see, but that works better than the rest
The 490 secure is installed directly in the window rebate, remaining completely invisible when the window is closed. Installation is self-adhesive, made easier by a dedicated positioning aid included in the box, and it is compatible with most tilt-and-turn and turn-only fittings with concealed hinges, for both windows and French doors.
Unlike magnetic contacts, the device uses small optical light barriers to precisely detect the position of the locking bolt, distinguishing between open, closed and tilted states. This is complemented by an acceleration sensor, capable of detecting both the vibrations of a break-in attempt and glass breakage. The alarm is then transmitted both via radio and through an integrated acoustic buzzer.
Flexible communication: KNX RF or EnOcean
The 490 secure communicates via either KNX RF or EnOcean protocol, with EnOcean set as the default on delivery. Activating programming mode switches the device to KNX mode; a subsequent download via ETS keeps it permanently configured in KNX. A master reset returns the sensor to its factory settings, restoring the EnOcean protocol.
The device supports both KNX Data Security and EnOcean Security, ensuring protected data transmission. Connection to the KNX bus can be made via the KNX RF/TP Coupler 673.1 secure, or via the KNX ENO Gateway 626 or 636.
Practical applications
Thanks to its versatility, the 490 secure is suited to numerous automation scenarios:
Energy saving
automatic heating reduction when a window is opened;
automatic air conditioning shutdown when a window is open.
Smart automation
automatic light activation when a French door or balcony door is opened;
raising of roller shutters to allow natural ventilation;
locking of motorized shutters if the terrace door is still open, preventing users from being locked out.
Security and burglary protection
remote status monitoring (open/tilted) of windows;
burglary alarm triggered by forced opening while the system is armed;
push notification to the smartphone if a window is opened while away from home.
Special applications
extractor hood activation only when the window is open, ensuring sufficient fresh air;
detection of unauthorized opening of windows or French doors by children or pets.
A sensor designed for installers and end users alike
Key features of the 490 secure include:
hidden installation in the window rebate, invisible when closed;
optical detection of 3 positions (open, closed, tilted);
acceleration sensor for burglary alarm and glass breakage detection;
dual KNX RF / EnOcean protocol with automatic switching;
integrated KNX Data Security and EnOcean Security;
powered by 3x CR 2032 batteries;
compact dimensions: 197 x 24 x 8.2 mm.
A complete solution combining security, energy efficiency and invisible design, confirming Weinzierl's attention to the real-world needs of installers and KNX system integrators.
