Weinzierl Window Sensor 490 Secure | Wireless Window Status and Break-in Detection

In this video, we present Weinzierl’s Window Sensor 490 Secure. It is a wireless window status sensor that works with both EnOcean and KNX RF. It communicates with an EnOcean/KNX gateway or sends data over KNX RF to a TP/RF coupler, such as the Weinzierl 673.1.

During the presentation, we look at how the sensor works, how it detects break-in attempts and its quick, simple configuration in ETS.

Technologies and Features Covered:

• Installation:

  • adhesive mounting on the window rebate, so it is invisible when the window is closed

  • battery-powered, no cables needed

• Security and compatibility:

  • supports KNX Data Security and EnOcean Security

  • compatible with EnOcean/KNX gateways or TP/RF couplers

• Window states:

  • closed, tilted or turned (open)

  • configurable 0/1 polarity for each of the three states

• Scenes:

  • opening or closing the window can recall one of the 64 KNX scenes

• Status sending:

  • cyclic sending of the window position

  • telegram repetition after a state change (from 1 second to 1 minute)

  • cyclic battery status reporting

• Break-in detection:

  • built-in accelerometer that detects tampering and glass-break attempts

  • adjustable sensitivity and repeated alarm sending

  • handling of the end-of-alarm 0 value: not sent, or sent with a delay

• Acoustic alarm:

  • built-in acoustic alarm, which can be enabled alongside the radio alarm

  • when enabled, battery consumption increases

• Diagnostics:

  • reading of position, battery status and any errors

  • dedicated group objects for states, scene, alarm and errors

The Window Sensor 490 Secure is the ideal solution when a cable cannot be run to the window frame: for example, to let the air conditioner know that the window is open. It also adds break-in protection, in a device that is easy to program.
